    We now have a Small Mammals Education Trunk available for teachers to use in their classrooms!  This trunk contains a number of pelts, skulls, scat and track replicas along with a couple books and some printed material.  There are a number of ways that this trunk can enhance classroom discussions on some of our native small mammals.  Call our education office for more details at (608)635-8105.

Welcome to the MacKenzie Environmental Education Center


"Experience the best in outdoor education."

The MacKenzie Environmental Education Center (MEEC) is one of the most diverse environmental education centers in Wisconsin. Encompassing 250 acres, the center has a variety of habitat types including prairie and forestland. MEEC is an excellent place to visit and learn more about the natural world through hands-on outdoor experiences, family outings, hiking and picnics.

Located just 25 miles north of Madison, MEEC is readily accessible to people of all ages in south-central Wisconsin.

    The MacKenzie Center is free to the general public, but donations are greatly appreciated.

    Groups visiting the MacKenzie Center need to pre-register with our education office, fees may apply.
